Situated in Benaki street & Agiou Ioannou in the heart of the historical centre of Kalamata, opposite the historic church of the Holy Apostles, where once housed the city's municipal market 
After the devastating earthquake of 1986 the market structure was demolished due to severe losses suffered. The new edifice occupied the place of the old market, was granted by the municipality of Kalamata in the Greek Ministry of culture, to work as an Archaeological Museum.
The collection is divided by geographical section, in accordance with the four counties of the Prefecture-Kalamata, Messina, Pylos and Triphylia – and consists of findings derived from excavations, from the bronze age as the period of the Roman Roman Period.

Historical and folklore museum of kalamata

Housed in a traditional building in the historical centre of Kalamata and works since 1973.
The Museum exhibited artifacts from the agricultural crafts, textile art, pottery and other professions. There are also representations of traditional house and Cafe in town.
The Museum's collection also features objects from the Greek Revolution, traditional costumes, kinds of ecclesiastical and Byzantine art, as well as an interesting collection of typography and binding.

It is located at a distance of 4 km. from the Palace of Nestor, in the western part of the prefecture in the region of Epano Englianos, and founded in 1969 by the archaeological service.
The Museum consists of 3 halls, each of which exhibits from different area. The first room contains artifacts (pottery, weapons, jewelry, tools, etc.) from the excavations of the SP. Sunrise at areas of Triphylia and Pylia, dating between 1550-1200 B.C. to major exhibits of gold set excavated three tholos tombs of Peristeria Kyparissia.
In the second room contains finds from the excavations of the only C . Blegen the Palace of Nestor, including pieces of wall paintings and clay tablets with inscriptions in grammiki b.
In the third Hall hosted findings from both the Palace and the surrounding areas and the graves on the Hill of Egkliano. Remarkable is the pair of stone horns from the Palace, the four large vessels from the Royal Tomb Vagena, the multitude of utilitarian vessels etc.

Is located in Mitropolitou Meletiou street in the building that housed the old Metropolis of Messinia in the historical centre of Kalamata. Founded in 2005 and its aim is the presentation of modern Greek history from the Revolution in 1821 to the present through exhibits photographs, texts and audiovisual material.
The Museum exhibited photographs of war and Struggle of 1821, exhibits from the Macedonian struggle with references to the Messinian from Tsaritsani, objects from the Balkan wars, tributes for the catastrophe, the 1st and 2nd world wars, the battles of Forts in Crete, the Middle East and national resistance.
References are made even in the Greek army peacekeeping missions in Somalia, the former Yugoslavia, Korea, the Gulf war and Afghanistan.
From the major attractions book Messenia dead, indicating the names of the fallen in battles from 1897 to 1974. In the surroundings of the Museum exposed a battle tank, an armoured, artillery, and aircraft.

Located on Aristomenous street, housed in the Kalamata Municipal Cultural Center and created on the initiative of the Library and Folk painter Kosta Giannoykopoyloy. Founded in 1962 and hosted more than 430 works, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and constructions by famous Greek painters of the 20th century. as well as works of Messenia.

It is located at a distance of 500 m from the centre of the village of Mavromati, housed in a two-storey building that was built in the period 1968-1972, on land donated by the homogeneous D. Latzoynis in archaeological society.
There are exhibited findings that were discovered exclusively in the excavations of Messina, from the, Themistokli Sofouli, George Oikonomo and Orlando Anastastio, in 1895-1975. The first floor of the Museum consists of three rooms and a balcony, while downstairs there are storage spaces.
The exhibits it distinguishes the satellite of Polyclitus, Artemis Lafiras type, Mercury the type of Andros- Farnese as well as some pieces of sculptures Damofwnta. Nestor in the Museum's collection there are 12,000 findings, which are not all due to the small capacity of the building.
From 1987 added 5 marble statues from the Ancient Messini.

Operating since 1961 after donation dentist Christos Antonopoulos and was created in order to accommodate the personal collection of the philhellene Rene Puaux.
Its collections have added artifacts from the region of Pylos, from the med Hellenic times.
The Museum is divided into 2 halls. Major exhibits are the findings (Signet, Golden films, grave cask, necklaces) from the tomb of Palaiochwria in die head, an ankle oversized by the Hellenistic tumulus of Tragana, kterismatwn (objects that are placed in the tomb with the dead), pottery and bronze utensils and the lining of the helmet warrior from boar teeth.
